Photo Manager

The Photo Manager oversees the ship’s photo operation and reports to shoreside Photo Operations Management, and onboard to the Marketing & Revenue Manager. Responsibilities include business planning, customer service, driving sales and achieving budget, photo lab &photo gallery operations, accounting, scheduling, reporting, staff training and development, succession planning, liaising with onboard and shore-side teams, environmental compliance, inventory control, marketing and promoting all areas of the photo operation and driving the business forward in accordance with the company’s goals.

 The position is responsible for the co-ordination of production, merchandising and sales to maximize profits for the onboard Photo Department. The Photo Manager must work towards achieving profitable results for Royal Caribbean International while maintaining full compliance and professional integrity of all policies. The position is expected to project the highest level of professionalism to the staff and guest while offering quality Customer Service to all.

SKILLS

  • Ensure image quality is maximized for allevents through regular photographer feedback, training and coaching. 
  • Ensure customer service is always of thehighest level, through monitoring, training, coaching and developing the team,and leading by example. 
  • Be pro-active in staff career development,being able to deliver effective training sessions, and provide regular coachingfor all team members to continuously drive revenue and guest satisfactionscores beyond budgeted goals and strengthen the operation. 
  • Accurately complete all reports andadministration required by onboard and shore-side management in a timelymanner. 
  • Execute a coordinated effective sales andpromotion strategy each cruise in accordance with company procedures and usingaccurate pricing and marketing materials. 
  • Ensure continuous adherence of the whole teamto company uniform, grooming and conduct standards. 
  • Conduct any necessary disciplinary actions inaccordance with company policy. 
  • Photograph any events as required. 
  • Protect all company inventory and equipmentthrough ensuring all staff follow proper handling and security procedures atall times. 
  • Construct positive working relationships withother department heads onboard, and work with them to assist with guest servicerequests, internal activities, cross-promotions and photo opportunities. 
  • Ensure departmental compliance with allshipboard policies.
  • Maintain familiarity and department compliance withthe Safety and Quality Management System and all applicable shipboard anddepartment Standard Operating Procedures. 
  • Zero tolerance to drugs and alcohol in theworkplace. 
  • Take an active part in shooting events on aregular basis and other areas of the operation (including activelyparticipating in training). 
  • Be available for any other reasonable duties thatyour Shoreside Operations Manager or company representative may assign. 
  • Maintain positive staff attitudes at all timesand monitor the levels of enthusiasm carried by the team.
  • Monitor Retail and Production Inventory levels byconducing inventory analysis and carrying out timely and sufficient orders inaccordance to Inventory Management procedure.
  • Must be able to workquickly and efficiently, leading a team of up to 30 staff, to deliver thehighest standards of sales and customer service, to maximize guest satisfactionand revenue for the Photo Department. 

Qualifications:

  •  Minimum18 months of experience in Shipboard Photo Operations required.
  • Thoroughknowledge of the Cruise Line’s environmental policy relating to Photo Laboperations is essential.
  • Abilityto conduct training sessions at all levels including one on ones and largegroups
  • Abilityto effectively deal with internal and external guests, some of whom willrequire high levels of discretion, patience, tact and diplomacy
  • Understandingof how to deliver excellent customer service including problem resolution andachievement of service quality goals
  • Applicant must haveadvanced computer literacy, knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Excel,Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Photoshop andbe able to operate other advanced computer systems, touch-screen kiosks andperform basic computer troubleshooting procedures.
  • Must be able to work independently andfunction under pressure in a deadline oriented, fast paced environment forextended periods.
  • Must possess the skills of a matureself-starter, look for opportunities for continuous improvement in overall photooperations and ability to inspire and motivate
  • Must enjoy working with the public in a busy, active and sometimes noisyenvironment. 
LanguageRequirements:

Excellent ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially.

Excellent ability to read and writeEnglish in order to understand and interpret written procedures and writeoperational procedures, policies and manuals. This includes the ability to giveand receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively andcordially present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisorsand co-workers.

PhysicalRequirements:

 While performingthe duties of this job, the shipboard employee is regularly required to stand;walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk orhear; and taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this jobinclude close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depthperception and ability to adjust focus

Extensive travelfrom ship to ship with varying accommodations and resting opportunities requiregood health. Active management of health through diet and exercise is a key forprolonged success in the position.

All shipboard employeesmust be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures anddrills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal andhearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event ofan emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.  The employee must have the ability to liftand/or move up to 50 pounds.
