Senior Photographer

Position Summary:

The Senior Photographer is responsible for photographing daily events, including, but not limited to embarkation, gangways, dining rooms, portraits and any other events that may require a photographer to be present to document the event(s). Senior Photographers will also work on gangways or in other areas “in character” as a photo mascot. Photo Gallery duties include delivering excellent customer service while handling sales of photo and retail items, and ensuring products are well displayed and merchandised to company standards.  The position will also include assisting with all areas of the operation including in the Photo Lab, and enhanced responsibility to ensure maximum productivity and image quality of the photo events during the cruise.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of six months experience in Shipboard Photo Operations required.
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge and understanding of photographic exposure, composition and focus is essential.
  • Must be able to use a modern Digital SLR camera, hot-shoe mounted flash and other professional equipment.
  • Basic knowledge and experience to operate basic computer systems and touch-screen kiosks is required.
  • Ability to give constructive feedback and conduct training sessions at all levels is an advantage.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of discretion, patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Knowledge of principles for providing exemplary customer service including problem resolution and achievement of quality service standards.
  • Computer literacy, knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Adobe Photoshop is beneficial.
  • Must be able to work independently and function under pressure in a deadline oriented, fast paced environment for extended periods.
  • Must enjoy working with the public in a busy, active, and sometimes noisy environment.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially.
  • Excellent ability to understand, read and write English to interpret written procedures, policies and manuals. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors, and co-workers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the shipboard employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Extensive travel from ship to ship with varying accommodations and resting opportunities require good health. Active management of health through diet and exercise is a key for prolonged success in the position.
  • All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • All candidates MUST have a valid passport for this position and cannot be expiring within twelve months.
