Technical Storekeeper

The Technical Storekeeper is responsible, under the direction of Chief Engineer Jr., for the proper handling of all spare parts and materials in Marine and Facilities storerooms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be advised that RCL places the highest value on the environment, and all employees shall do the same. Those assigned to this position shall work with superiors and subordinates to understand and comply with the company's environmental policies and be committed to safeguard the environment. He shall directly and immediately inform his immediate superior if he becomes aware of any system aboard ship that does not comply with RCL policies.
  • The Duties of the Technical Storekeeper are to be addressed and carried out under the direction of the Chief Engineer Jr.
  • Assist in the onboard vessel functions regarding Technical Procurement (Purchasing) directly related to AMOS for Deck (excluding Waste Streams), Engine, Electrical, Refrigeration, and Facilities at the discretion of Chief Engineer Jr. The Technical Storekeeper will assist with the communication to Supply Chain, as directed by the Chief Engineer Jr.
  • Assist in the onboard vessel functions regarding Inventory directly related to AMOS for Deck, Engine, Electrical, Refrigeration and Facilities Divisions at the discretion of Chief Engineer Jr.
  • Follow the policies and procedures for Inventory Control (cycle count physical inventories, order picking, etc.) and Returns (landed goods - LGA processing).
  • The Technical Storekeeper shall place in request all parts necessary for the storeroom for Division Heads final review and approval.
  • Provide input to the Department and Division Heads related to stock requirements.
  • These duties include maintaining an orderly and rational storage system, continual updating of spare parts, materials, and consumable stores in AMOS.
  • Issue a weekly inventory list for chemicals stored in chemical locker, Engine Room and/or additional technical spaces.
  • Clearly label all parts and tools.
  • Check In & Out parts and tools.
  • Check deliveries against purchase orders for accuracy and updating the Delivery Discrepancy Report (DDR) for the Chief Engineer Jr. to submit to Supply Chain.
  • Update AMOS to reflect that materials physically received onboard as promptly as possible, in cooperation with the Division Heads including Facilities.
  • Adequate protection of all parts and tools in storerooms.
  • Clearly marking all reconditioned spare parts.
  • Shall keep oxygen and acetylene rooms in correct and good order.
  • Additional routines and work as assigned by Chief Engineer Jr.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of a computer
  • Working knowledge of MS Windows and AMOS software
  • Technical knowledge of Marine spare parts.Language Requirements:
  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests and crew.
  • Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures; effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Additional languages are advantageous but not required.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:
  • Physical: Regularly stand, walk, and use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Fine motor skills required for equipment and control adjustments.
  • Vision: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Environmental: Must be able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills; work in shipboard environments with exposure to heat, cold, humidity, noise, and confined spaces; wear appropriate PPE; be available to work in shifts and respond to on-call tasks as required. Full use of arms, legs, vision, hearing, and communication abilities is required to perform duties effectively.
